[Action]

[so having got back from his mission last week with parts, Scorpius during the time before and during the event had ransacked the Item Shop for electronics. He'd also gotten some out of empty apartments. And... taken them down to one of the New Feather stations. Specifically the one which is labelled aa on this map. So there might be a little workshop and a few not quite finished things there. He's tried not to leave too much behind which can be used or damaged by anyone else other than the incomplete frame of a pulse generator (so no little light in it right now, just the frame) and welding equipment.

Anyway, back in the village now for the first time since then his first stop is the Item Shop to pick up more cooling rods (and he really needs a better system for this), and then the Tea Shop to enjoy some iced tea now that he's back in town. It's there that he delivers the two messages below. But either way, after that Scorpius heads to the Smithy partially to see if there's anything interesting there but mostly to try to secure some new base metals.

And then... at the end of his day, to the Battle Dome. Not to fight, but rather just to observe. He would return right to work (he even has a small pack full of items with which to do so by the end of the day) but he might as well look around for anyone interesting here in both the med center part of it (also to closely examine the technology there) and the viewing area to watch how people fight.

And finally, once all that is over and people are home with nothing better to do and no home to return to... he decides to walk through the woods in the cool night air. First down to the southern lake where he'll meditate and then back to New Feather Watch Station aa to check on his stuff and finally come to sleep outside of it.

[...That'll do. The good Doctor will contact him on her own time if she gets the permission needed and discovers anything. It's more of a curiosity there anyway. Something to occupy himself. Unless she had real samples from when she was changed it would be pointless and he's still kicking himself a bit for not collecting any. Too nice. Too safe.

[ As promised, she manages to time herself at exactly 32.5 minutes to get there. Yep. ]

[Oh, score. Well then, as his greeting, he'll wave with the hand not holding the handle of his box thing, which is holding... some other button device which is attached to box thing by a wire.

[ Oddly, creepy old bondage aliens seem less frightening after getting swallowed by a hoard of shadow monsters. Go figure. ]

What's that thing?

[ She points at it, almost immediately, after coming close enough that she doesn't have to yell at him to be heard. ]

A piece of equipment I thought you could assist me in testing. [he hefts the box a bit. Nominally to show it, but mostly to point the little pipe at her subtly]

[ She's eying it. Can't say she's too happy about it getting pointed at her. ]

And status field device. [And at this, he presses the button in the hand not holding the box part. an arc of energy is now being shot at Yuri. If it connects, it'll (hopefully) knock her out and entrap her in a semi-skin type orange force field thing. But hey, maybe she'll dodge it. Or throw his aim off. Or one of those options (most likely the knock out) won't work]

[ Okay, firing something at Yuri? At least she's got plenty of practice with suddenly needing to dodge things, but at this distance and that sudden? Her only way to do it is by trying to drop down. The holyshitduck method of dodging. She's had too much experience in battle to get caught off guard enough to really get hit, especially with someone she doesn't have a reason to trust yet-- but she still needed time to recover and she suspected she wouldn't have that, so her immediate response was to kick at the dirt. If she could get some in his eyes, that could at least distract him long enough for her to get up. If not? A second shot would definitely get her. ]

[Impressive. He'd thought her SSS was all chum change, but that reaction time was exceptional, on par with what more Peacekeepers would accomplish. In that moment he feels a grudging amount of respect for the young woman and in fact smirked to himself. That said, the dirt wouldn't do much - it's possible it's his Scarran heritage which gives him a second layer on his eyes and it's possible that it's his Sebacean heritage because they see two or three times as well as humans to begin with. It's also possible he is relying on hearing, but the second shot comes and, well. If this thing is working right (and he's testing it, it might not) it'll trap Yuri in a status field, albeit the one this gun fires should be more skintight ~~so a little like being Han in carbonite~~. Working well, it should also knock her out.]

[ There's a soft yelp when she gets hit, the soft clanging of a knife she'd been in the process of pulling out slipping to the ground when it does, and in a matter of moments she's unconscious. ]

[Score. He looks down at his box... firing twice and it's already smoking a bit. Bah he needs some better wiring, he knew those silly copper wires would not be sufficient. Either way, he then walks over to Yuri, inspects her... yes. She's out cold. Good. He picks up her knife, examines it, and then places it in a holster on his belt of the bondage suit. From here he hefts the girl up in one arm (freakish Scarran strength and all) and brings her over to the edge of the tunnels. He considers... he could try to carry her down these stairs...

Well, if the status field holds she should be unharmed anyway. so he just lightly tosses her down. As it is, the field dissolves quickly because of the nullifying effects of the tunnel and she lands with a loud thud.

...Well, if that broke bones, it's not a huge concern of his. Given her personality, she seemed like someone he could turn that around for. With that done, he collects the rest of his supplies (in a silver suitcase), follows down into the tunnels, and carries all his stuff and her over to a room further down the hall.

Once there, he props her limp knocked out body against the wall... he considers making some makeshift chains or something, but that would be pointless. Well, if she had the knife- none of her other weapons will be a huge threat to him, but he might as well search her for any other weapons on her person to put them on the other side of the room.

Whenever that is done he crouches down next to her and takes out a strong smelling scented candle he picked up at one of the shops to hold that under her nose to wake her up.

[ If there were any scrapes that she got from falling down those stairs, they were likely gone by the time she would wake up. Small things like scrapes, scratches-- those healed quickly, even if the markers of bits of blood and dirt smirched together still rested atop her skin. The damage that couldn't be seen still hurt, but it would heal in time. More quickly than most people. She was lucky that her neck hadn't snapped during that fall, dealing with the repercussions of "death" wasn't a trial she wanted to face this early on in her time at Luceti.

So when she wakes up to the pungent scent of aromatic wax, the first thing she notices is how sore everything feels. That lasts for about two seconds when she opens her eyes and sees Scorpius looming over her body. Scorpius, that guy who decided that attacking her seemed like a great idea. Definitely not a friend now. ~~(Or at least until he apologizes and promises not to do it again.)~~

Initial reflex? Reach for the knife. Not there. She vaguely remembered dropping it. Secondary was to reach for what may have very well been an early attempt at a homemade smoke bomb. Yuri didn't really have the sorts of things available to her that she'd had in her original world, so making weapons was significantly less simple here. There was no way she was going to be able to pull a propulsion engine out of her ass here, so working on smoke bombs? This was the least she could try. She hadn't actually tried to see if that had worked or not yet, of course, but.. It was certainly missing now. Her eyes narrowed.

Fine, no weapons? She's going to try to aim a kick at his face. Take that, giant bondage alien creeper SHE LIKED YOU!!! ]

[More and more resourceful. Man, maybe he should have tied her her up. He thinks this as the kick connects with his face. It makes him lurch back a bit, and in a brief moment as the pain assaults him he goes Scarran brained, resulting a rather beast-like growl which seems more at home with his weird needle teeth than his normal posh way of speaking.

Even so, it barely rattles him. It might give her some time to break across the room for an escape, get some of the weapons/supplies he put in the far corner of the room (whatever he took of her plus his own stuff) or something, but before she'll actually manage that he'll most likely have shot his arm out to get a grip on something of hers. Clothing, arm, maybe a leg. He's got a very strong grip and-]

[Calmly, with his posh back in order] I would say the experiment was a success, Yurippe. What's more, you've earned my interest.

[ Yuri had already started trying to get up and escape by the time she'd heard his voice, but when he spoke, she stopped dead and stared at him. No, blinked at him. She actually looked a little surprised, rather than angry or anything. ]

Experiment?

[ A couple of blinks pass by the time that she continues, a new grimace on her face though one that doesn't seem entirely angry like before. No, this one's more indignant and is followed by her reaching over to smack him upside the head. ]

If you want to try something out just ask me first, you don't have to attack me! Are you stupid? Are you some kind of super-moron?

[He could, and should stop her by twisting her wrist. He chooses not to and those takes the twack, with minimal movement. He doesn't shrug, but his tone implies one]

No, I needed to test it on a subject which would be resisting.

Right right. [ She can see that. Honestly? She probably would've done the same thing. If Scorpius had to pick anyone, Yuri was definitely the best person to do it.

She does have an issue though. ]

Don't toss me around anymore. I might have to take action.

[ There's so much dirt on her, she had to be tossed somehow. She figured the pain was just from getting shot with that thing. For now though, that wack upside the head was the most he was getting beyond a threat. Physical fighting? That wasn't the only way to get back at someone. ]

So what did that thing do besides knock me out?

It locked you within a status field. Even if you hadn't been "knocked out," you would have been trapped within it. It also should have served for some minimal preservation and protection. However... the field dissipated as soon as you [inhale. Were tossed but he says-] entered these tunnels.

[Which means that they also make tech things weaker. And now he's looking at her again... human? Yes, mostly human but while she was out cold he noticed a few spikes which were interesting. He considers going for one of her knives which is still on his belt to slash her and see if he can test that again but there's really no need to make this more complicated]

[ Yuri considers this for a moment. She could confirm facts about the status field, but if it worked and did something like that... There were a lot of considerations to be made with this. Either way, there was something it could be ridiculously useful for and she wasn't going to pass up confirming something to see if it was possible. ]

Would it work on things like robots?

In theory. Obviously, a fully mechanical device without any sapience will not have a means of being "knocked out", but the status field ought to hold.

[Insofar as a Shift doesn't shut it down, ala this tunnel... he might need to go more basic. Perhaps an electro magnetic pulse, as loathe as he is to go there.

Well yeah, I don't need them knocked out though. I need them held still so I can get someone to go into their robot little minds and reprogram them to open up a door in the barrier. I was planning on getting someone to try to build one of those electrical field things to try to stop one long enough for us to do the same while we had people fighting any follow-ups off, rewriting the programming, and activating it later so that they didn't suspect that we succeeded or anything, but if you can do this much it should be a lot easier.

[ She'd already started talking to Bruce and Kitty about something like that. ]

A reprogramming would take a great deal of time on the spot, it would likely be far more efficient to remove their key components in one instance, reprogram that, and simply replace the systems at a different time. After all... time is something we all have in excess.
